The forgotten Trail (Montefortino, Vetice)

🧭 Trail Notes: This is a very relaxed and mostly flat forest trail, following an old abandoned mountain road through deep woodland and remarkable silence.
Shortly after the start, the route passes an abandoned house and a small ruin before reaching the only notable climb of the trail. From there on, the path continues gently through shaded forest almost all the way.

The road surface is natural and unpaved, with soft forest ground and a few beautiful rock formations along the route. While there are occasional openings with views towards the surrounding mountains, this trail is much more about atmosphere and solitude than wide panoramas.
The abandoned road eventually fades into a very narrow singletrack, which marks the natural turning point of the hike before returning along the same route.

There are no reliable water sources on this trail, so make sure to bring enough water for your dog, especially during warmer days.

Overall, this is a calm, quiet and highly enjoyable route for anyone looking to escape into the forest and experience the stillness of the Sibillini mountains.

🐾 Shira’s Verdict: One of the quietest trails we’ve explored so far. Lots of shade, soft forest ground and almost no steep sections — perfect for a calm and relaxed walk.
The abandoned road and the old ruin give this trail a very special atmosphere. Just don’t forget to bring water, because there are no springs along the way.
