Beyond the forgotten Trail (Montefortino, Vetice)

🧭 Trail Notes: This route begins in Vetice and follows an old forest road gently climbing towards the mountains, mostly in the shade and surrounded by deep woodland. The first part is relaxed and familiar, sharing the same peaceful atmosphere as The Forgotten Trail.

Eventually, the old road simply comes to an end and only a faint path through the vegetation remains visible.
From this point on, the route changes completely!

This section (around 250 m) is NOT recommended for beginners and crosses rough and uneven terrain. While no climbing is required, dogs should be comfortable moving over rocks, roots and natural obstacles. Not ideal for very small dogs, inexperienced hiking dogs or dogs with mobility issues. The path is a little steeper and leads through dense vegetation before suddenly opening onto a high plateau with one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the Sibillini mountains.

Ahead rise Monte Sibilla, Monte Zampa and Monte Priora. Behind you, the landscape opens towards Montefortino, with views stretching almost all the way to the sea.

From here the trail continues with much less shade and follows a path towards Fonte alla Casa, where water can usually still be found even during summer.
The route then continues along an old forest road, alternating between sun and shade, towards Fonte Le Prugnalete, before descending back towards Vetice and returning to the starting point.

This route combines quiet forest sections, adventure and one of the most rewarding panoramas in the area.

🐾 Shira’s Verdict: This one felt like a real adventure.
The beginning is calm and easy, but once the forest road disappears things become much more exciting. Lots of climbing, vegetation and new things to explore. The reward at the top is absolutely worth it — endless views, mountain peaks everywhere and two springs to cool off along the way.
Not the easiest route, but definitely one of the most memorable.
